I read a lot of articles about the dangers of global warming, and one of those articles said the world was getting warmer and that we were already seeing some of the changes we’ve been worrying about for decades. I had to Google it to find out what was really happening. Turns out that “getting warmer” isn’t really a bad thing.

Actually it is. A lot of scientists are saying that while we should be a little worried about the planet getting warmer, we should be a lot worried about it being warmer. The problem is that we are so used to seeing the Earth warming, that we forget its not always the same temperature. So instead of worrying about climate change, we should be worrying more about climate shifts.

The good news is that climate shifts happen all of the time. The bad news is that they might feel a lot more like a threat than a threat. That is because climate shifts can be a relatively small event, and often happen more frequently than climate change. So when we consider climate shifts, we need to think more about what the threat might be. Climate shifts that cause more frequent and more intense heat waves, for example, might cause more extreme weather.
