• Lately, the development in the field of AI has surged tremendously.
  • However, the lack of regulations concerning their ethical use, also makes them quite sensitive.

The world is gradually shifting its momentum from Web2 to Web3, where platforms based on blockchain technologies, governed in a decentralized manner and powered by token-based economics will exist. Already cryptocurrencies are proving an alternative to the existing financial system and the concept of a smart contract-based decentralized finance (DeFi) holds billion of dollars.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the intelligence possessed by machines that allows them to learn and react like humans. AI plays the role of a lubricant running these different parts smoothly and may become the fuel to drive it to the far future. Tech companies have always desired to stay ahead in the market by improving the user experience.

The present use cases of AI are in chatbots and virtual assistants, content recommendations, bug detection, natural language processing (NLP), content generation, and data analytics among others. The use of AI in the field of web development started several years before but became significant with the launch of platforms like Wix and Grid, which helped even non-tech-savvy people to build websites in hours. However, with the sweet smell also comes the sharp thrones.

Pros of AI

With AI, platforms can deliver personalized content and future recommendations to users, as the AI can understand user patterns, behavior, and preferences. The historical data can be studied for each user to provide them with more engaging content. This is already implemented in platforms like Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime, and others.

AI reduces the repetition of tasks as it helps in creating a standard model for different things. A website designer does not have to start from scratch but just work on the standard layout and put more effort into creating the end product. This improves the time efficiency and websites could be deployed quickly.

The humans putting their time and effort into debugging the code are replaced by quick automated debugging and even correcting them. AI also helps coders to adopt cleaner code writing practices making it easier for others to read and perform changes, enhancing website maintenance.

Through AI, platforms can gain insights into the interaction of their product with the end user. AI can help in collecting feedback, analyzing the huge database, and providing valuable results. The developers can shape their future marketing strategies, make critical decisions and in the end optimize the use of their website.

Cons of AI

There are no regulations at present around AI which leaves it just to the morality of the designer to use it ethically. Although websites can be created through AI in minutes, they will lack the human touch, which rouses the emotional connection for some customers. The lack of human creativity and originality can also make AI designs monotonous and pretentious.

AI learns from the database of previously collected data and makes future decisions. This data can be discriminatory towards some people or politically biased and AI may deliver content offending people. While humans can make modifications based on the present sentiments of people, AI may not.

The need for a database is essential for AI to perform well. However, with rising awareness among users regarding privacy policies and governments scrutinizing companies for collecting personal data, companies may face difficulty in creating a genuine database.

Final Thoughts

As with any technology, AI comes with its benefits and damages. Companies should do complete research before implementing AI into their systems. Although the lack of definite regulation around them makes them quite vulnerable, it also helps developers to discover their full potential.
